Watch Africa: Siren of Faso

Watch Africa: Siren of Faso

(The Cloth of The Country) Michel K.Zongo, 2015, 90m
Saturday 1 October, 5.30pm with Q+A
£7/£5

We welcome back Watch Africa to our cinema as part of the ‘Bringing the world to Bangor’ weekend which includes a Fair Trade Supporters Conference and market, a gig by Black Umfolosi at Pontio, and an African Diaspora day and the chance to view new African Cinema.

Siren of Faso introduces the history of the Faso Fani textile factory in Koudougou, Burkina Faso which was closed and left to rot in 2001. Using radio and TV archives and interviews with the ex-workers, Zongo creates a film which is an homage to a specifically African form of resistance in the face of globalisation.
