He is currently leading a project to establish the first new economy innovation hub in South Africa, in partnership with NEF (New Economic Foundation) and the DOEN Foundation

15 March 2012 Left his role as Programme Manager for WWF South Africa, and as Strategy Consultant on Water and Climate Change, to set up the African Centre for a Green Economy
2016-2019 Adjunct Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town
Oct 2017 – present Nonexecutive Director at SAREBI (South African Renewable Energy Business Incubator)
2022 appointed to the Board of the Table Mountain Fund (TMF), an organisation working to protect biodiversity in South Africa

Dr Mao Amis has an MSc in Conservation Biology and PhD in Natural Resources management and planning from the University of Cape Town. Prior to founding AfriCGE (African Centre for Green Economy), Dr Amis worked as Programme Manager for WWF South Africa, and as Strategy Consultant on water and climate change. He serves on various Boards as a non-Executive Director, including the South African Renewable Energy Business Incubator (SAREBI) and the Freshwater Research Centre.
He is the founder and impact assessment lead at the African Centre for Green Economy (AfriCGE), a nonprofit think tank and research consultancy.

Languages he speaks: English, Kiswahili, Arabic and two indigenous African languages (Kakwa & Lugbara)
