Dr Rom Okeke

Dr Rom Okeke is a Senior Lecturer in Project Management at the School of Management Cardiff Metropolitan University, Wales. Prior to this role, he was a Lecturer in Operations and Project Management (OPM) at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) where he received MSc in Computing and Ph.D in OPM (focused on Cybersecurity) in 2010 and 2015 respectively.

Rom is a passionate researcher with outstanding track records. He has successfully led high-quality and innovative research projects in both England and Wales for the past 10 years including: 1) Investigator for Welsh Government’s ‘Study on BAME recruitment and retention to teaching in Wales’; 2) Chair of Academic Reference Group for the Future U:Uni Connect;  3) Research Fellow at Institute of Security & Information Systems UCLan; 4) Project Evaluation Analyst (Post-doc) for OfS and Lancashire Constabulary England where he used analytics and decision modelling tools to evaluate public services projects (HE participation, Mental Health Triage, Vulnerable Callers) while generating evidence-based practices and policies.

Rom has been recognized in various awards including the UCLan’s Star Award for his contributions to Future U and OfS England, the Goldstein Award Finalist by the Centre for Problem-Oriented Policing at Arizona State University for his team’s contributions to the Vulnerable Caller Project. Rom is an Associate Fellow of THE UK, and member of: BAME Staff Network, Society of Research Software Engineering, Royal Statistical Society and Institute of Operations Management. His research interests include OPM, AI, Cybersecurity and Data science as well as Social Mobility and Inclusive Economy.
