This event is for anyone, professionals or community activists, or those interested in finding out more about the current challenges in the increase in incidents around Brexit of hate crime and racism.

The Keynote presentation and discussion on current research into victim led explanations for low hate crime reporting and barrier removal will be led by Wales Hate Crime Manager, Gareth Cuerden.

Dr Marian Gwyn will introduce the “Cymru Ddu – Ein Cymru Ni / Black Wales, Our Wales” project, with reference to the shared history North Wales has with many other parts of the world.

International guest presenter, Yasus Afari, will use his approach as a Jamaican “edutainer” using his poetry and reasoning to explore the issues and challenges that we face in commumities that are becoming increasingly diverse in make up, questioning why this should be seen as a problem.

Other guest speakers will explore the challenges we face today and outline some approaches being developed to work with communities; the Hope not Hate Campaign “More in Common” and the new “Gyda’n Gilydd / All Together” schools project which involves creative artistes working with children and young people encouraging them to explore ways to include rather than exclude those who may seem different.

The event is managed by Race Council Cymru, Victim Support Cymru National Hate Crime Report and Support Centre Wales and Learning Links International.
