WELCOME / CROESO

Black History Month Wales hosts celebrations around the country in October 2019. The ultimate goal is to see meaningful activities happening all year round, 365 days of the year and not just in October. whilst Black History Cymru 365 provides a series of opportunities throughout the year for our grassroots communities and organisations to develop a diverse programme of Arts & Creative practice in Wales, to build ongoing partnership programmes to increase engagement, teach skills and development diversity in Artistic practice.

Year on year Black History Month is proving to be one of the most engaging, lively and welcoming events in Wales’ cultural calendar. It serves both as an educational project and an entertaining experience for those interested in and inspired by African and Caribbean Heritage and the Welsh connection.

Black History Month Wales’ unique flavour draws on a wealth of historic and current connections – explored through a host of activities for families, children and people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.

The Black History Wales network is made up of over 104 pan-Wales organisations such as; youth charities, grassroots groups, schools, Further Education and Higher Education institutions representing people of different cultures, faiths and geographical locations who sit on our steering committee.

First Minister Of Wales Endorses Black History Month Wales 2019

In celebrating Black History Month, we pay tribute to the contributions made to Wales by people from BAME communities. We thank them for their efforts and sacrifices over the generations. We will continue to welcome and embrace those from other places who seek to improve our communities and we will challenge discrimination faced by these communities wherever we find it.
