Jill Duarte

Jill Duarte – born in Manchester and educated at a South Manchester Independent school –
Withington Girls School. She was introduced to other nations at a very young age and it was
there that Jill subconsciously learned how others ‘did things’ and what they believed.

Jill Duarte worked for Swansea local authority from 1978 in Leisure and then for Community
Education. She always loved her work and was invited to be one of the first founder members of
ACC (African Community Centre ) in 2003/2004.

In 2007 Jill won the both the individual and overall Service Excellence awards from Swansea City
Council and in 2016 became the director of the African Community Centre.
